Where it sits in the set

Every figure below is counted from the 152 popups captured in the same pass, not from a benchmark report.

  • No number is stated up front. 29 of 152 popups do this, trading a known discount for the pull of finding out.
  • The field is behind a gate: a yes/no comes first. 76 of 152 popups (50%) gate the field, so this is the majority behaviour at the top of the market, not the exception.
  • Rendered by Klaviyo, the second most common, accounting for 55 of the 152 popups.
  • Trigger is scroll, which 21 of 152 popups use.
  • On desktop the card covers 50% of the viewport, larger than 73% of the desktop captures.
  • The first field asks for email, as 104 of the 108 popups where a field was visible do.

This brand in The Handoff

Kuru also has an ad and landing page teardown in The Handoff, which is where this brand list came from. The handoff there is rated {'rating': 'Partial', 'note': 'The ad is a mock search box, "Shmoogle", autocompleting "Best shoes for plantar fasciitis but make it cute", "a busy parent who never sits down" and "feet that hurt all the time but I\'m not 87". The homepage keeps the pain framing in the hero, "Survival Is Easier Without Foot Pain", with the line "You don\'t need another comfortable shoe. You need one built to fight foot pain from the heel up." What shifts is the audience: the hero image is a man splitting wood beside a vintage truck, which is a long way from the cute-shoes and busy-parent searches the ad used to qualify the click, and no named shoe or search term is waiting on arrival.'}. Read the Kuru teardown.

How this was captured

Headless Chromium, US egress, fresh session, first visit. The page was loaded, scrolled, and on desktop given an exit-intent pass, with up to 32 seconds allowed for a timed popup. Nothing was typed into any form. Where a popup hid its field behind a yes/no or a quiz, a single click was allowed to reveal the next pane and no further, so "first field" means the first field a visitor actually sees. The same capture re-runs the week of Black Friday and this page gains a second column.

Want your own popup, flows and offer read against this baseline before Q4? That is a week of The Read.
