How the Shopify Plus cost is calculated

The platform fee is the greater of the flat monthly fee ($2,300 on a 3-year term, $2,500 on 1-year) or 0.25% of your monthly GMV, capped at $40,000 a month. On top of that sits payment processing (a percent of GMV), a 0.20% Plus transaction fee if you use a third-party gateway instead of Shopify Payments, your app and software stack, and any agency or development. The result is your all-in monthly cost and what it works out to as a share of revenue.

Under 4% of GMVLean. Usually a disciplined app stack and Shopify Payments. Most of your money is going to product and acquisition, not overhead.
4% to 6.5% of GMVTypical for a Plus brand. Worth a periodic audit of the app stack and processing rate, but not alarming.
Over 6.5% of GMVHeavy. Platform, processing, and software overhead is eating margin you could redeploy. Audit apps and your gateway choice first.

Above roughly $920,000 in monthly GMV the 0.25% revenue share overtakes the flat fee, so high-volume brands are effectively on variable pricing until the $40,000 cap. Questions

Common questions

How much does Shopify Plus cost in 2026?
The platform fee starts at $2,300 per month on a 3-year term or $2,500 per month on a 1-year term. Once 0.25% of your monthly revenue exceeds that flat fee, roughly $920,000 in monthly GMV, you pay 0.25% of revenue instead, capped at $40,000 per month. That fee is only the platform line. All-in, with payment processing, apps, and services, most Plus brands land at 4% to 6% of GMV.
When does Shopify Plus switch to revenue-based (0.25%) pricing?
You always pay the greater of the flat fee or 0.25% of monthly revenue. The crossover is where 0.25% of GMV equals the flat fee, around $920,000 per month in GMV for the 3-year term. Above that you are effectively on revenue-share pricing, capped at $40,000 per month.
What is the real all-in cost of Shopify Plus?
Platform fee plus payment processing (usually 2.2% to 2.5% of GMV), plus apps and software, plus any agency or development. For a brand doing about $1M a year the real monthly bill is commonly $5,000 to $8,000. At $10M a year it is often $15,000 to $25,000 a month. The sticker price is the smallest line on the invoice.
Does Shopify Plus charge extra transaction fees?
If you use Shopify Payments there is no additional Shopify transaction fee. If you use a third-party gateway, Shopify adds a 0.20% transaction fee on Plus, lower than the 0.5% to 2% on standard plans, on top of whatever your gateway charges to process the card.
Is the $2,300 the total cost of Shopify Plus?
No. The $2,300 is the platform subscription only. Payment processing, apps, implementation or migration, and ongoing development are all separate. Evaluate Plus on total cost of ownership, not the subscription line, or you will under-budget by a wide margin.
How much should Shopify Plus cost as a share of revenue?
Platform fee plus processing plus software typically runs 4% to 6% of GMV for a Plus brand. Under 4% is lean and usually means a disciplined app stack. Over about 6.5% means platform and software overhead is eating margin you could redeploy into acquisition or product.
