The one ad in the account that does not want your order, it wants you to walk into Target, and it hands the click and the customer to the retailer.

“FIND CHICKEN NEAR YOU”

Handoff: Break

Every stick in the ad is chicken and the headline is "FIND CHICKEN NEAR YOU" over "12G PROTEIN | 0G SUGAR | REAL INGREDIENTS". The Target brand shop leads with a different campaign, "A better school year starts with better snacks" over "Pick Chomps meat snacks for back-to-school routines", and its banner photograph flanks one chicken bag with two beef bags, Original Beef and Jalapeño Beef. Chicken is not what leads the page, and the school framing the ad never mentioned is what greets the visitor instead; the product grid sits below the fold and out of frame. Target's own chrome does honour the "near you" half, with Ship to 52404, Cedar Rapids South and Pickup & delivery in the header, but the product promise is handed to the retailer and dropped.

The read

Running since 15 June 2026, two months after the chicken line launched on Meta with CHOMPS CHICKEN HAS LANDED. White grid-paper background, the Chomps wordmark badge, then a red block headline reading FIND CHICKEN NEAR YOU. Beneath it a hand lowers three chicken sticks, pink Nashville Hot, green Savory Breakfast and orange Original, into a lilac lunch bag. The footer bar prints 12G PROTEIN | 0G SUGAR | REAL INGREDIENTS. Copy names all three flavors and says Get NEW Chicken sticks in a store near you, and the paid headline is Pick up new snacks near you. The click leaves the brand entirely and lands on the Chomps brand page at Target.com. Everything about the composition is a shopping cue rather than an ecommerce cue: no discount badge, no shop now button, no price, a hand and a bag instead of a plinth and a starburst.

Why it works

  • It sells availability, not the product. The chicken line already had launch creative in April. This one exists because a new SKU dies if nobody knows which store carries it, so the ad spends its headline on where rather than what, which is the actual barrier for a shelf-stable snack.
  • Three flavors named, one decision removed. Original, Nashville Hot and Savory Breakfast are all listed in the copy, so the shopper arrives at the aisle knowing what to look for instead of scanning a snack wall. Specific recall is what converts a retail trip.
  • The visual language switches to match the destination. A hand, a lunch bag and no offer badge read as pick this up on your next run, not as check out now. The rest of the account is discount ads on a coloured field with a starburst, so the change is deliberate.

Objective fit

Traffic / Clicks. There is no offer, no code and no owned landing page. The measurable outcome is a click through to a retailer brand page, which functions as availability awareness and retail sell-through support rather than a direct sale.

Where it breaks

You pay for the media and Target keeps the customer. No email, no subscription, no retargetable pixel event on your own property, and no clean read on whether the ad caused the purchase without retailer data you have to ask for or buy. Out of stocks make it worse, because the ad keeps spending against a trip that ends in an empty facing and a shopper who now believes the product is hard to find. Run this only when you have distribution confirmed, a retail media or sell-through report you can actually see, and a reason to buy shelf velocity, usually a launch window or a category review. If those three are missing, the same budget in the direct funnel is the better call.

Does your own handoff survive the click?

This is the same read I run on live funnels: the ad, the page, and the gap between them. Scored, free, no call required.
