A founder-signed close-out letter for the 6th Annual Summer Sweepstakes, running beside blacked-out prize reveals that make the click itself the payoff.
“WE'RE SHUTTING IT DOWN”

Handoff: Break
The founder letter names the prize pool out loud, a 610hp Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, a 558hp Hennessey VelociRaptor, a fully loaded Ford Bronco GT and 100k cash, and closes on Enter for a chance to win at Ridge.com beside a 4X ENTRIES splat and a row of Ridge rings. The click lands on a page headlined OFFICIAL RULES, a six-button language selector sitting above abbreviated legal text that starts NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. There is no entry form, no prize imagery and no closing-soon urgency above the fold, and the only trace of the pool is the line Max Prizes total ARV: $380,000 USD inside the terms. An ad that says enter at Ridge.com should not land on the page that explains the rules of an entry it never offers.
The read
Captured 2026-08-19 from a wall of 48 active ads, where the 6th Annual Summer Sweepstakes takes a large share of the account. This tile is a letter, not a product ad: red headline on black, four paragraphs of body copy, a 4X ENTRIES graffiti stamp, a row of Ridge rings along the bottom edge and a handwritten signature reading Daniel K., Founder. The copy names the prize pool in full, a 610hp Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato described as one of only 1,499 ever built, a 558hp Hennessey VelociRaptor, a fully loaded Ford Bronco GT and 100k cash, then closes the door with the line "Once it ends, it's gone for good." The same campaign runs a second system alongside it: a truck scribbled out in black under YOU COULD WIN THIS with a green CLICK TO REVEAL bar, and a second scribbled truck under $100K CASH OR THIS. YOUR PICK. Both carry SHOP RIDGE.COM AND GET ENTRIES TO WIN in small type. Clicks across the set land on the sweepstakes rules page.
Why it works
- The deadline is the product. Nothing new is being launched here, the only fresh information is that the window is closing. The end of a promotion is one of the few honest reasons a brand has to hit the same person twice in a week without changing the offer.
- The blackout buys the click. Scribbling out the prize turns an announcement into an open loop, and CLICK TO REVEAL states plainly what the click pays. Curiosity costs nothing to produce and it stops people who would never stop for a wallet.
- The prize list is the targeting. Off-road trucks and a Huracan select the same man Ridge already sells wallets, rings and key cases to. A gift-card prize pool would have pulled a much broader and much worse audience for the same spend.
Objective fit
Conversion / Purchase. Entries are earned by shopping: the reveal tiles read SHOP RIDGE.COM AND GET ENTRIES TO WIN and the founder letter stamps 4X ENTRIES, so the sweepstakes works as a purchase multiplier rather than a standalone giveaway. Worth noting that the click still lands on the rules page rather than a shop surface, so the purchase step is one hop further away than the copy implies.

Variants of the same system (4)
One campaign running several jobs at once. The founder letter carries the deadline, the blacked-out reveals carry the curiosity, and two tiles captured in the same set carry no sweepstakes copy on them at all, which means the promotion is being carried in body copy on those placements. All observed 2026-08-19.
YOU COULD WIN THIS, blacked-out truck with CLICK TO REVEAL

Gold tungsten beveled ring, plain product still, no promo copy on tile
Houston Texans licensed wallet and key case, plain product stillWhere it breaks
Sweepstakes-led acquisition collects entrants, not customers. The people most likely to click a blacked-out Lamborghini are prize hunters, and they inflate clicks, list growth and anything that looks like cheap traffic while buying nothing, which then poisons the retargeting pool and any lookalike seed built from that window. Two more failure modes sit in this specific setup. The account is concentrated in a promotion with a hard end date, so there has to be an evergreen creative bench ready for the morning after it closes, or spend falls off a cliff with nothing tested to replace it. And a purchase-linked entry mechanic pulls in real sweepstakes law, so free entry, eligibility and official rules are a legal question, not a creative one.
Does your own handoff survive the click?
This is the same read I run on live funnels: the ad, the page, and the gap between them. Scored, free, no call required.
