A simulated autocomplete dropdown puts an unfinished query in the reader's head, then completes it three times with named chemicals, and sends the click to a page called fb-microplastic.

“Your Search Ends Here.”

Handoff: Continuous

The autocomplete mock puts "Detergent free from microplastics" at the top of its three suggestions and closes on "Your Search Ends Here." The page opens on "Quit Cleaning with Microplastics" and the qualifier "Shop our 100% microplastic-free detergent tablets", so the fear is named before anything is merchandised. Two things loosen slightly: the lower suggestions, forever chemicals and alcohol ethoxylates, are not picked up on arrival, and the single 60-count pouch in the creative becomes a carousel of multi-product kits priced in CAD.

The read

A static running since 7 July 2026. The top third is a translucent search field over blue subway tile with the typed fragment 'Detergent free from...' and three greyed suggestions beneath it: 'Detergent free from microplastics', 'Detergent free from forever chemicals', 'Detergent free from alcohol ethoxylates'. The headline 'Your Search Ends Here.' sits between the interface mock and a studio packshot of the 60 load kraft dishwasher pouch with lemon halves, a glass of blue liquid and loose tablets. The click goes to blueland.com/pages/fb-microplastic, an angle-specific page rather than the dishwasher PDP. Blueland runs the same hidden ingredient argument in two other formats: a macro care-label static reading 'This tag tells you more than your detergent does', and a low-fi whiteboard Venn diagram for the toilet tablets.

Why it works

  • An unfinished query is a stronger hook than a claim. 'Detergent free from...' is a sentence the reader has to close, and the three suggestions close it for them in escalating order. The interface does the persuading, so the brand never has to say a competitor is bad.
  • Alcohol ethoxylates is the line that earns the click. Microplastics and forever chemicals are already in the shopper's vocabulary; the third suggestion is a surfactant most people cannot pronounce and have never checked for. That specificity is what separates this from every plastic-free claim in the category.
  • The destination is named after the fear. /pages/fb-microplastic means the argument continues on arrival rather than restarting on a product page, and the URL itself shows this angle is a maintained route, not a one-off creative test.

Objective fit

Conversion / Purchase. The click lands on a dedicated offer page rather than a blog, quiz or collection, so the ad is converting a worry into a cart in one step instead of buying traffic and hoping the site sorts it out.

Where it breaks

Two real risks. First, mocked interface chrome is a policy question: keep it generic as this one does, because a recognisable engine's UI reads as impersonation and gets pulled. Second, the ingredient ladder writes a cheque the page has to cash. Once you name alcohol ethoxylates you need substantiation and a clear implied comparison, and this ad never says which products contain them. The sibling care-label static in the same account ships with 'Laundry Detergent Detergent' printed on its product card, which is a fair warning about what happens when a static factory runs faster than proofing.

Does your own handoff survive the click?
