Blueland ad teardown: Free Gifts with Your Welcome Kit
A torn paper receipt itemises the welcome kit, strikes two line items through to FREE, and shows the total falling from $34 to $21 before the reader has to work anything out.
“Free Gifts with Your Welcome Kit”

Handoff: Break
The receipt itemises a dishwasher kit: 60 Count Dishwasher Tablets at $21, a Reusable Dishwasher Tin struck from $10 to FREE, and 5 Count Laundry Tablet Samples struck from $3 to FREE, total $34 struck to $21. The page it lands on is the laundry twin, headed Laundry Welcome Kit with 60 Count Laundry Tablets $21 under a yellow Limited Time Only! band reading Welcome Kit that includes Laundry Tablets, a free reusable Forever Tin, plus Dishwasher Samples to try at home. The paid item and the free sample have traded places, so a reader who clicked for dishwasher tablets is being sold laundry. The $21 and the free tin do survive the click, which leaves the price as the only part of the receipt that lands intact.
The read
A static running since 17 June 2026. The whole creative is one device: a zigzag-torn white receipt on a pale blue sky, Blueland logo at the top, three itemised lines with small product thumbnails beside them, a dashed rule, a total, and a barcode at the foot. 60 Count Dishwasher Tablets sits at $21. The Reusable Dishwasher Tin is priced at $10 and struck to FREE. A 5 Count Laundry Tablet Samples pack is priced at $3 and struck to FREE. Total $34 struck to $21. The click goes to blueland.com/pages/fb-welcomekit, a Facebook-specific offer page rather than the dishwasher PDP. The same offer runs as a laundry receipt, an exploded product diagram and two blue-tile packshots, split by product line across /pages/fb-welcomekit and /pages/fb-welcomekit-laundry.
What the ad does
- The receipt does the arithmetic in public. Every gift carries a price before it is given away, a Reusable Dishwasher Tin at $10 and 5 Count Laundry Tablet Samples at $3, so the saving reads as $13 of named items rather than an unverifiable percentage. A receipt is also a document people are trained to read line by line.
- Both free items are second-order bait. The tin is a refillable container and the sachet pack is a five-load trial of the adjacent category, so a first-time dishwasher buyer leaves holding a vessel that needs refills and a sample of the laundry line, which is the actual point of a welcome kit in a refill business.
Objective fit
Conversion / Purchase. This is a first-order acquisition offer with a fixed cart, not a subscription pitch: the creative names one kit, one total and one price, and routes to a page built for that single transaction. Recurrence is engineered through what is in the box rather than argued in the ad.
Blueland ran this conversion creative to the landing page it clicked through to, both captured August 2026. A torn paper receipt itemises the welcome kit, strikes two line items through to FREE, and shows the total falling from $34 to $21 before the reader has to work anything out. Read as a pair, the handoff rates break.

Variants of the same system (4)
One welcome kit offer, five statics, two product lines. The receipt device and the packshot device carry the same $34 to $21 maths, and each product line has its own Facebook landing page. Observed 2026-08-19.
What to fix
Route the dishwasher receipt to the dishwasher welcome kit page and keep it there. It currently lands on the laundry twin, headed Laundry Welcome Kit with 60 Count Laundry Tablets $21, so the paid item and the free sample have traded places and a reader who clicked for dishwasher tablets is being sold laundry. Restate the ledger on arrival too, the struck $34, the $10 tin and the $3 samples.
