Liquid I.V. ad teardown: Confectionery ip flavour engine
Liquid I.V. borrows Popsicle, Ring Pop and Spider-Man to sell a functional powder, and footnotes its strongest claim down to beating plain water.
“CLINICALLY PROVEN SUPERIOR HYDRATION*”

Handoff: Continuous
The ad stacks "HYDRATION MULTIPLIER®" over "POPSICLE® FIRECRACKER" and "CLINICALLY PROVEN SUPERIOR HYDRATION*", resolving at the foot to "*Than water alone", and the page leads with exactly that SKU: the eyebrow "POPSICLE® FIRECRACKER" above the H1 "HYDRATION MULTIPLIER®", the same navy pouch, the same red-white-and-blue lollies, with the Popsicle chip selected in the flavour grid. The footnote survives as the visible claim rather than the fine print, stated twice, "FASTER HYDRATION THAN WATER ALONE" on the pack panel and "Experience faster hydration than water alone" as the first line of body copy. The phrase "clinically proven" does not appear on the page, but the substance of the asterisked claim does, at greater prominence than the ad gave it. Neither frame prints a price, the subscribe box sits below the captured fold, so there is no currency difference to report here.
The read
A mid-blue field. "HYDRATION MULTIPLIER" in small white caps, "POPSICLE FIRECRACKER" beneath it in lime green with the registered mark on Popsicle, then two navy banner strips reading "CLINICALLY PROVEN" and "SUPERIOR HYDRATION*". A red, white and blue Firecracker ice lolly stands beside the stick pack, which carries the Popsicle roundel on its front. At the very bottom, in small white type, the asterisk resolves: "*Than water alone". The licensing runs wide. A Ring Pop lockup sits over a Sugar-Free Ring Pop Cherry stick with a real cherry and a real Ring Pop beside it. A Spider-Man: Brand New Day tie-in gets its own collection page, its own limited-edition Arctic Raspberry SKU, a narrative brand film shot with no visible branding for its first several frames, and creator coverage from the LA world premiere red carpet.
What the ad does
- The licence carries the flavour claim so the copy does not have to. Nobody needs telling what "POPSICLE FIRECRACKER" or a Sugar-Free Ring Pop Cherry tastes like, which is why the partner roundel sits on the front of the stick pack rather than in a corner, and why not one line in the frame describes a taste.
- The asterisk is the most honest thing on the tile. "CLINICALLY PROVEN SUPERIOR HYDRATION*" reads as a competitive claim until the footnote resolves it in small white type: "*Than water alone". The page states that comparator twice and drops "clinically proven" altogether, so the fine print survives the click and the strong sounding half does not.
- The film tie-in buys a release window, not a character. Spider-Man gets a dedicated collection page, a limited-edition Arctic Raspberry SKU and creator coverage from the LA world premiere red carpet, all timed to somebody else's spend. The brand film opens with no visible branding for its first several frames, which only makes sense if it wants to be mistaken for the trailer beside it.
Objective fit
Conversion / Purchase. Each licence gets its own PDP and its own limited-edition framing, which is a drop economy rather than a subscription argument, even though the account's default 30% subscribe offer sits underneath. The Spider-Man line goes further and gets a whole collection page, so the film window is being treated as a merchandising season.

- What to fix: Benchmark against a rival rather than against water before spending a banner on a clinical claim.

Variants of the same system (3)
One licence, one destination. Popsicle runs to a Firecracker PDP, Ring Pop to a sugar-free cherry PDP, and Spider-Man to both a limited-edition PDP and a dedicated collection, so the film tie-in is the only licence given a storefront of its own. Observed 2026-08-19.
What to fix
Benchmark against a rival rather than against water before spending a banner on a clinical claim. "*Than water alone" is the correct legal position and it is commercially inert, which the page proves by stating the comparator twice while dropping "clinically proven". Budget for the approvals as well: three licensors means three clocks on creative that also has to carry a regulated health claim.
