biom ad teardown: Biom
A phone clip of a big box aisle with no product in frame lands on a wipes page whose default option is a monthly AutoShip order.
“some people jump up and down after finding out the best news of their life”

Handoff: Break
The ad is a handheld walk down a retail aisle, red ceiling signage overhead, a woman in a pale blue shirt and lanyard reacting in profile, captioned some people jump up and down after finding out the best news of their life. No product, no pack, no price is in the frame. The page is a polished DTC listing for the Baby One Handed Wipe Kit, and its selected option is AutoShip and save 19%, Changing Station Dispenser plus 6-Pack at $45.22, shipping every 1 months, with One time purchase demoted to a text link underneath. Nothing on the page acknowledges a store: retail is a Store Locator item up in the nav. The click goes from a shelf you could reach for to a recurring order you have to set up.
The read
A vertical phone clip filmed over someone's shoulder in a big box store. The camera tracks down a polished aisle lined with red hanging signs and endcap shelving, and holds on a woman in profile at the right of the frame, blonde hair pulled back, pale blue collared shirt, a red lanyard at her chest, mouth open mid reaction. Two lines of white captions sit across the middle of the frame. No packaging, logo or price appears anywhere in the shot, so the only thing being sold is the moment.
Why it works
- The caption withholds the news. Naming a reaction without naming the cause is a straight curiosity trade, and it buys the two seconds a wipe brand would not otherwise get.
- Retail shelf space reads as validation. Filming inside a store lets the brand claim scale without stating a single number, which is a claim that costs nothing to make and cannot be checked in feed.
- Zero product in frame keeps it out of ad shape. No pack, no hands, no unboxing. It looks like footage someone took, which is the point at the top of the funnel.
Objective fit
The creative carries no offer at all, so the campaign objective is set entirely by the destination, and that page defaults to a monthly AutoShip plan at $45.22. A brand moment is being asked to close a recurring commitment.

Where it breaks
When an ad celebrates being on a shelf, the natural next step is finding that shelf. Sending it to a subscription default with the one time option in small text asks a colder visitor for a bigger commitment than the ad set up.
