Carpe ad teardown: Challenge

Ties the discount to a stunt performed on camera, so watching the ad is watching the offer being set.

“Every handlebar spin he lands is another 1% off.”

Page teardown

Reviewed all 28 captured Carpe crops (copy text for all, plus image checks on several, e.g. the 'sweat sucks' and 'B*illion dollar industry' UGC frames). Every crop is a standard deodorant/antiperspirant product or UGC-testimonial ad ('Ditch your drugstore deodorants', 'Our Premium Scents are Selling FAST', 'Most deodorants mask odor'). None reference a BMX/handlebar-spin stunt, a warehouse setting, an employee performing tricks, or a discount that increments with a landed trick -- the specific visual and mechanical hook this entry describes. No candidate qualifies even at low confidence.

The read

Filmed in the warehouse with an employee attempting BMX handlebar spins, each landed trick incrementing the sitewide discount. Cooper named it his favourite challenge ad of the year. The offer is not announced, it is earned in front of you.

Why it works

  • The offer becomes a spectator event. Watching to see where the discount lands is a retention mechanism no discount graphic can match.
  • Urgency without a fake deadline. The scarcity is structural, the number stops when the attempts stop, so it costs no credibility.
  • Warehouse setting signals a real company. The location does more for trust than a studio would.

Objective fit

Conversion with a built-in reason to act now. The handoff has to land the exact percentage the video produced, or the whole device backfires.

Where it breaks

The page must reflect the earned discount immediately. A stunt-set offer that arrives at a generic sale page is worse than never running the stunt.

Does your own handoff survive the click?
