Autobrush ad teardown: Autobrush

A child holding the U shaped brush lands on the Sonic Pro Family Pack, where clinical percentages and an AutoShip panel lead instead.

Handoff: Partial

The object matches without ambiguity: the white U shaped head with blue bristles the child holds up in the ad is the same head in the page's hero shot, next to a unicorn wrapped kid version, under the title Sonic Pro Family Pack at $119 from $240. The register does not match. The ad is a child in a hallway at kid height; the page answers with three clinical bullets, up to 82% better in hard-to-reach areas among them, a Free 2-Pack Flossers for Subscribing tile and an AutoShip panel docked over the gallery. Further down, the How to use section states that Autobrush is not a hands-free device, which qualifies the impression left by a child holding it alone.

The read

A vertical phone frame in a hallway hung with a grid of white framed landscape photographs. A young girl in a pale blue floral dress stands centre, smiling, holding the white U shaped brush head out toward the lens with both hands so the blue and white bristles fill the upper left of the frame. The only graphic element is a small white circle low on the left containing a zero, sitting beside a short white bar.

Why it works

  • The child is the demonstration and the proof. A five year old holding the device at arm's length answers the parent's real question, whether the kid will accept it, before any specification does.
  • The head is angled at the lens, not the mouth. Turning the U shape toward camera makes the mechanism legible in a thumbnail: every tooth at once, one shape, no technique required.
  • The setting is a real hallway. Family photos, skirting board, wood floor. Nothing in the frame was styled, which is what separates this from a brand shoot and buys a parent's attention in a feed of brand shoots.

Objective fit

A family pack page is the right destination for a creative starring a child, and the discount is live at the fold. What the objective loses is the emotional argument: the ad sells a calmer bedtime, and the page opens on percentages and a subscription plan.

Where it breaks

A page that later says the device is not hands-free should not be reached by a creative implying a child can do it alone. Put the parent facing line and the thirty second framing above the clinical bullets, and let the numbers support them rather than lead.
